When planning your St. Louis engagement session, I highly recommend picking out two locations for your engagement photos. Couples should choose one location that is meaningful to them – like a first date location, where you just met, or where you spend a lot of time together – and then choose one that you just flat out love! Here are five ideas for your St. Louis engagement photos:
To get the famous Gateway arch in the background of your photos and get the urban feel of the city, Kiener Plaza is a great place to start in downtown St. Louis. For some creative, artsy photos, I recommend adventuring to the top of a parking garage for even more engagement photos. Also, no more than a block away is the beautiful St. Louis City Garden, which also makes for a great photo location! Wandering down the streets of downtown, including the iconic Washington Avenue, is always a good call!
Ah, The Grove! This iconic gay-borhood is of course always a good time, but it also offers variety for your engagement photos. I recommend starting at one end of Manchester Avenue, like at Rise Coffee, and wandering down to Urban Chestnut. Be sure to stop at any murals, interesting doors, or fun storefronts along the way!
Again, if you want urban vibes, a Midtown aka The Grand Center Arts District is the perfect St. Louis engagement session location for you! The gorgeous gold doors of The Fox Theater give you an elevated, luxurious vibe for your engagement photos. Be sure to stop by the murals on Olive street, including the Honey Bears. Around the corner from the Pulitzer Arts Foundation is the old, ivy-covered abandoned church. There are so many possibilities!
Did you know that Forest Park is bigger than Central Park in New York City? It’s true! With such a big, beautiful park at the center of the city, you know it’s full of engagement session photo ops. Some of my favorites are: Outside of the Muny, just around from the corner from the Muny is a gorgeous creek, in front of the St. Louis Art Museum, the Jewel Box, and the Boathouse.
I love Forest Park as an engagement session location because there are so many opportunities. Almost all of my couples choose to do their engagement session in two locations, but if we go to Forest Park, we will often stay there for the whole session! You can get photos with a picturesque nature background in so many parts of the park. Then, if you hop over to the Jewel Box or the Art Museum, you’re able to switch it up. This is also a great place to propose in St. Louis and have it photographed!
Finally, Tower Grove Park is amazing for engagement photos! This is the perfect park to plan your engagement session at if you plan on bringing your pets. Of course there are the popular areas of the park, such as the Piper Palm House, the Ruins, and the Music Stand that are gorgeous for engagement photos, but don’t forget to wander off the beaten path! There so many hidden gems in every nook and cranny of this park.
