Sahsha + Stephen’s smiles didn’t stop at their moody and romantic River Roast wedding! Stunning views of the Chicago River make River Roast an easy favorite. Sahsha + Stephen’s more introverted personalities really lit up when surrounded by their loved ones on their wedding day. They are both chic but laid back and their wedding day definitely reflected that.
Sahsha is originally from Michigan, but fell in love with Chicago after attending Northwestern. Along the way, Sahsha moved to Austin, TX for work. Steve is from Long Island, NY, but on whim decided to move to Austin, TX as well. Only a few months later, Sahsha and Stephen found each other on OkCupid. Since then, they have both made their trek back to Chicago where they got engaged! Steve proposed during a surprise birthday party for Sahsha. Want to read about another adorable proposal? River Roast is perfectly situated in the heart of the city. From their While the venue itself has magnificent views of Chicago, it’s also an ideal wedding venue for it’s proximity to iconic Chicago photo spots such as the Riverwalk, the Wrigley Building, and the Chicago Theater. These beautiful spots (and more!) are all within walking distance of River Roast. Sahsha + Stephen took advantage of the convenience with wedding portraits on the River. With seven event spaces to choose from, River Roast can accommodate weddings of a variety of guest counts.
We began Sahsha + Stephen’s day with getting ready at The Westin Chicago River North, just a short walk from River Roast. Sahsha got ready with three of her closest friends where the laughter and magnetic energy did not stop! S + S decided to have their first look on The Westin terrace overlooking the Riverwalk and it was perfect. After their first look, we headed to the Wrigley Building for some wedding party and couple photos. We then did some family photos in their ceremony space.
The ceremony was officiated by one of their good friends. She kept the energy fun but sentimental and announced that Sahsha + Stephen were taking on a new last name as a family – The Owens! After the ceremony, guests gathered outside to enjoy the sunshine-filled patio for drinks and fun bites. Then, it was time for toasts, cake cutting, S + S’s first dance, dinner, and most importantly, partying the night away! We ended the night with a few skyline view photos on the deck – their first portraits as a married couple.
“Tawny did an amazing job with our wedding. We are both introverts who rarely take photos and she guided us flawlessly and made us feel super comfortable. And the shots she took are truly epic!”
Thank you, Mr. & Mrs. Owens, for trusting me with your big day!
