Hannah and Andrew’s wedding day was incredible! From the beginning, they described wanting an intimate dinner party vibe with their closest family and friends. That’s exactly what they were able to achieve for their wedding at Olive and Oak in St. Louis, MO. The whole day was well-thought-out from start to finish. Every detail was hand-selected and intentionally chosen, and it definitely showed from the gorgeous florals, stunning cake, multi-course dinner courtesy of Olive and Oak, their wedding attire, and more.
Olive and Oak in St. Louis was the perfect backdrop for their wedding day. The Hall at Olive and Oak is a chic, industrial-meets-modern wedding venue just a few minutes outside of STL in Webster Groves, MO. The skylit reception hall gives a private feeling without sacrificing natural light. The neutral colors throughout the ceremony and reception space allowed Hannah and Andrew to truly make it their own. The brightly colored florals popped and the candles offered a warm glow which added to the intimate dinner party ambiance.
Hannah and Andrew met online in October 2019. Their first date was at The Royale in South City, STL. Hannah described their date in this way: “It was electric and unlike any other first date I’d been on before. Andrew met my dog Rhu the next day. Seeing him with her sealed the deal.” After some time, they moved in together and got another dog, Barley (I had the pleasure of meeting both of their sweet pups at their engagement session!).
Andrew planned a whole proposal day — starting with falafel at Al Tarboush (a place Hannah recommended to him when they were chatting online), followed by hiking to a lookout in Shawnee National Forest in Illinois. He played Hannah’s favorite song (Sweet Thing by Van Morrison) and asked her to marry him. Of course, she said yes! Hannah and Andrew bond over their shared love of hiking, camping, traveling, good food, and of course, their dogs.
“Tawny was recommended by various vendors and photographer friends. For one, her values come through in her work and social media. Tawny celebrates all kinds of couples, especially LGBTQIA love. She also knows how to capture big and small moments, especially through candids. We loved working with her because she is calm, relaxed, thoughtful, and prepared. We got to shoot with her ahead of the wedding, which really allowed us to get to know each other before the big day. Tawny took wonderful engagement photos in our home with our dogs. She was unfazed by their energy and took photos that really captured our home and that moment in our lives. She was very helpful in planning our day-of timeline and working with our day-of coordinator (Charley at Coda’s Events) to ensure everything ran smoothly and we kept on schedule.
Tawny made sure to capture all of the photos we really wanted and capture a ton of small moments throughout the day that we would have missed otherwise. She also took a mix of color and black & white, which is really nice to have. Our wedding photos are truly beautiful and instantly bring me back to how I felt getting married to my person. I can’t recommend Tawny enough!”
I am so honored to have documented the fleeting moments of their day. From the sweetest first look, to a close family friend officiating their wedding, the little glances at each other during speeches, and dancing the night away with their loved ones, I feel grateful to have been a part of it all. Thank you, Hannah and Andrew, for trusting me with your wedding day!
