Mitch + AJ’s Artifact Events wedding was the perfect blend of editorial elegance and heartfelt celebration. As a Chicago wedding photographer, I knew this venue – tucked in Ravenswood – would be an incredible backdrop for their sweet day. When Mitch + AJ first reached out to me, we chatted about how much they dreamed of an editorial flair to their photos, so I knew I would be a great match for them. After only a few minutes of chatting, I could tell that what they shared was special, and I adored their vision for their wedding day, so I was thrilled when they booked me for their Artifact Events wedding. When we met for their engagement session, the vibes were so good and I couldn’t wait for this day.
Mitch + AJ met online and had their first date at Roscoe’s in Chicago’s LGBTQ+ neighborhood, Boystown. Years later, AJ proposed with a surprise helicopter ride, followed by dinner at Kasama, and a condo filled with flowers and love. It was a proposal worthy of their vibrant, authentic love story.
Artifact Events is one of my favorite Chicago wedding venues for its industrial charm, exposed brick, vaulted ceilings, and gorgeous natural light. This historic venue in Ravenswood offers indoor and outdoor spaces that work beautifully in photos, whether for intimate portraits or large group celebrations.
From the sunlit courtyard ceremony to the chic reception space, every corner of Artifact Events was made for this wedding. As you’ll see below, we never had to leave the venue to get Mitch + AJ the wedding photos of their dreams. Artifact Events also has getting ready suites for pre-wedding preparation.
With space for up to 1,000 guests, it’s a dream for both large and cozy weddings alike. The private outdoor courtyard (my personal favorite part of the venue!) offers room for more than 250 seated guests for ceremonies. The North First Floor accomodates 250 for a seated dinner, while the North second floor accomodates 220. The South First and Second Floor both accomodate 200 seated guests. Overall, the venue can hold 1,000+ guests.
Plus, it’s less than 8 miles from The Loop, just steps from the Brown Line and offers easy parking – major wins for out-of-town guests.
Mitch + AJ’s Artifact Events wedding was such a dream! Mitch and AJ got ready together with their closest friends and their pup, Milo – who also happened to be the cutest ring bearer ever. Their ceremony was full of love, with personal vows that had the whole room misty-eyed (me included!).
Their reception was elegant and modern – think white florals, glowing candles, and clean lines. They made a grand entrance with a choreographed dance. Their first dance was to II Most Wanted by Beyonce and Miley Cyrus, so you know I was singing along. Later, Mitch + AJ surprised everyone with a drag performance featuring two incredible queens. AJ + Mitch even joined the queens for their own performance at the end of the drag show. It was personal, joyful, and so them.
I’m endlessly grateful to work with couples like Mitch + AJ who lead with love and authenticity. If you’re planning an Artifact Events wedding or looking for an LGBTQ+ wedding photographer in Chicago, I’d love to tell your story with care and artistry. Reach out to book your date.
