I’m so excited to share this 501 Union wedding styled shoot. 501 Union is a Brooklyn, New York wedding venue with refined details and beautiful natural light. 501 Union weddings are absolutely gorgeous. I hopped on a plane in December to spend a few days in NYC, and this styled session was my main reason for the visit!
I don’t often do styled wedding sessions, but when I do, I love them for two key reasons. First, they give me an opportunity to refresh creatively. Styled shoots are a great way for me to try out new things so I can serve my wedding and elopement couples even better! Second, I am able to take photos of details and ideas for couples to use at their own elopement or wedding. If you’ve been thinking about eloping in NYC, this is your sign! New York City elopements are chic, sophisticated, and fun. As the city that never sleeps, there is something for everyone at any given time.
To elope in New York City, you must first obtain a marriage license. You and your soon-to-be spouse can complete the process in person or online. A New York marriage license is $35. A New York State Marriage License is valid for 60 days (except for active military personnel, for whom the validity runs for 180 days). You can find more information here.
This NYC elopement styled shoot spared no detail. For our bride, Prin, the elevated, editorial vibe was made possible by her mix-matched Samantha Sleeper bridal set, vintage red heels, slightly muted red lip, and an NYC sleek ponytail. Our groom, Jack, brought the rockstar vibe with an undone coat, no tie, and a soft boutonnière. Their casual style is the perfect example of classy, modern wedding attire without the stuffiness.
The elaborate, yet delicate floral ceremony floral design truly tied everything together. The contrasting black and warm-toned tablescape was luxurious, modern, and perfect for any intimate wedding. I was swooning over the minimal name cards inside of the drinking glasses!
501 Union in Brooklyn is a perfect venue for a wedding or elopement of any size. The venue has three rooms that all flow together perfectly. Two of the rooms feature a bar, while one features a backdrop of green plants. I love that 501 Union is somewhat of a canvas for you to make your own, while still having its own unique characteristics and charm for any couple to play off of when decorating their venue. I could easily see one room being used for the ceremony, one for a cocktail hour, and then opening up the space to let guests flow through all three during the reception.
Cement floors, white-painted brick, glass, and gold details make 501 Union unique. The light in the venue is a photographer’s dream, which means you’ll have gorgeous photos. The palm-detailed wallpaper is gorgeous for portraits before or after your elopement.
