I’m so stoked to share Juliana + Courtney’s stunning Logan Square engagement session in Chicago. These two cuddled up on a super cold day in February and shared a drink at beautiful Estereo, a whimsical, yet industrial bar on Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square. Then, we spent just a little time on the Riverwalk in Downtown Chicago for those iconic city views. It was below freezing, so we didn’t last long, but these two still managed to look amazing in the cold!

Estereo features Latin American spirits and cocktails, as well as vintage Latin sounds on vinyl. This bar had such beautiful lighting that was perfect for creating harsh shadows, a favorite of mine when photographing engagement sessions. The shadows give such a unique vibe to your images. There were also places with softer window light so we could get some evenly-lit portraits, and some backlit portraits as well. I loved Estereo’s vibes. The large window and exposed brick lend to an industrial look, while the plants, disco ball, hot pink curtains, and “Bar All Day” sign give a 70s-inspired, retro, and colorful look. The two different aesthetics, paired, with the photos on the Riverwalk, gave Juliana and Courtney variety in their engagement session gallery.
While cozying up at a bar is a great option for an engagement session in Logan Square, there are lots of great spots for engagement photos in this beautiful neighborhood. Here are a few suggestions:
Juliana + Courtney are getting married this year at Tied House in Lakeview. They met at a book club in Brooklyn, NY around 4 years ago. Rather than a proposal, they decided together that they wanted to be engaged. They designed their own engagement rings, along with one of their friends who made them. Then, they set off on a week-long road trip together through Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California to exchange rings and celebrate their engagement. When I asked them what they love most about each other, they said: “Each other’s belly laughs, creativity, world view, and feeling like home with one another.” These two are so sweet with one another, and I can’t wait for their wedding!
